Do you do WordPress? and ASP vs. PHP
Asked by Jon Johnston:
“My hosting provider (.asp based) doesn’t support blogs. Do you set up WordPress sites?”
“Hello Joe,
“After we spoke tonight and I was driving home, I realized I might be able to use your services. I want to create a word press blog to go with our web site. Our hosting company is an ASP site and doesn’t, and won’t host any blogs of any type.
I was looking at hosting a blog on another site, but don’t have time to set it up. Is that something you can do?
“I want a blog that has a similar color scheme to [my website]. I know there are lots of template/themes for wordpress and I have seen a few that could work for us.”
Yes, I do setup WordPress sites (custom and templated) as a service. I’ve never tried WordPress with an .asp hosting provider (as of this writting), but from what I understand it does work. It’s probably easier to go with a .php hosting provider such as HostGator though.
Actually, the difference between the two are: .asp = Windows® and .php = Linux® (this is in regards to the server, dishing out the website). .Asp is much more expensive to work with being under the control of Microsoft, where as .php is free (other than services) having been written under the GNU License.
